Older forms of English kept Latin’s gender-specific suffixes -tor and -trix; tor is for men and trix is for women. So a male pilot is an aviator, a female pilot is an aviatrix. A male fighter is a gladiator, a female fighter is a gladiatrix.
This contrasts with the modern system, where tor is for both men and women, and trix are for kids.
Honestly everywhere. I can be doing dishes or even writing myself a prompt and the next thing I know: BOOM idea! (Like I have 2 more rhack story ideas sitting on my phone for when I finish Shamefully Yours and the other one that came about because I was starting to text someone an AU and the story kept going and I thought: “nah I’ll write this”)
10) Does your narrator move from character to character?
Not often? I find I like to stay with a close third POV but I will sometimes to a close Third POV with two characters. It depends upon the story and the characters involve. In Fuckin Hell I have both Wade and Peter’s POV (and sometimes a few others) because when I’m writing, I’m basically transcribing the movie I see in my head. In Bastards Choice, I stick with Rhys because there’s so much internal conflict that I can’t really focus on others until the very last chapter when I switch to Jack’s POV.
17) What is your best piece of advice for writing hurt/comfort scenes?
Write honestly, be brutal, make your babies suffer but also comfort them in the end. It’s as raw to your characters as your readers and readers need that balm after intense scenes.
13) What grammar tends to cause problems when you’re writing?
I feel so called out XD my grammar is horrible (I think everybody knows this), but my big ones are: commas, how to use that ’ to define if something is possessive or not, and using a , or a . when dealing with dialogue.
21) What is your best piece of advice for writing romance scenes?
Write from the heart. Don’t try and make some Hollywood romance scene, or write something that feels artifical to you because it’ll feel artificial to the reader and they will be able to tell. Be honest and if it makes you feel warm, or makes your heart ache, chances are it’ll make the reader feel that.
30) How do you edit your stories?
Very lazily XD Basically I’ll write it out. Sit on it for a week or two, do a line edit (so read line by line), usually do whatever Microsoft word suggests (and my own fixes) and thats it. However I sometimes use Grammarly and that has bee incredibly helpful (especially with online content). If it makes sense and looks right to me, I post.
Thank you for asking!!! 😘❤❤❤
I’m so used to awkward/bitchy/shy/slutty/bottom Rhys that when I stumble over some Fiona/Rhys or Sasha/Rhys and he’s acting all dominate/super confident I’m like:
